DEWITT, Iowa (KWQC) - Classes started for Eastern Iowa Community Colleges’ new process technician program on Monday.
School officials said the nine-month program was created to give companies the trained technicians they need to keep plants running, according to EICC’s website .
Leallen Ehlers, who is EICC’s training manager, created the program with ADM, 3M and LyondellBasell Industries, officials said.
“These are just small satellite offices, there’s other jobs they can go out through the country, and they can reconnect,” Ehlers said.
Students will learn multiple skills, officials said, including:
Workplace safety
Applied chemistry
Process equipment and instrumentation
Plant operations
Lean manufacturing
Quality control
