BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- The Baton Rouge Epicurean Society hosted over 900 guests for its 18th annual Fête Rouge. This celebration of culinary excellence and fine wine took place on Aug. 22 at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge.

The evening featured over 30 restaurants and 200 wines. Proceeds went to childhood nutrition programs, health initiatives, and culinary scholarships in the Baton Rouge area, according to a news release.

The highlight of the event was the Chef Competition, where top local chefs competed in four categories: • Seafood: Patrick Trahan (Ruffino’s) – 1st place & Best of Show for Blue Crab Gnocchi • Louisiana Flavor: Jon Jackson (LSU Dining) – 1st place for Jalapeño Relish Chicken Liver • Meat: Tre Veillon (The Gregory) – 1st place for Oxtail Marmal
