Edinburgh drivers were slapped with £800 in fines in the wake of a single vehicle collision on Wednesday, August 27.

The single-vehicle crash took place on the M90 and saw a lane closed on the motorway. Emergency services, Traffic Scotland and recovery teams quickly rushed to the scene.

However, Police Scotland say response teams were hampered when motorists "failed to comply" with the mandatory lane closure and "drove into the closed lane".

Eight fixed penalty notices were subsequently issued, which entail a £100 fine and three penalty points.

One driver was also reported for failing to comply with the lane closure and for additional road traffic offences.
