DURHAM, Conn — An arrest has been made in a multi-vehicle crash in Durham that killed a man in his 80s back in January.

Nevin Moore, 22, of Durham, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in connection with the crash on Route 17 in Durham that took the life of John Festa, 86, of Northford.

The crash involved three vehicles while there was snow on the ground on the afternoon of Jan. 6, state police said. The investigation found that Moore was driving above the speed limit in the snowy conditions. Moore's vehicle slid and crashed head-on into Festa's truck, sending him and a passenger to the hospital. Then, a third vehicle ended up crashing into the passenger side of Moore's vehicle.

Festa was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, state police said.
