PISCATAWAY − It's officially Game Day for Rutgers football .

The Scarlet Knights kick off their 2025 season today at home against Ohio, the first of three crucial nonconference games as Greg Schiano's program hopes to ultimately make its third postseason appearance in a row.

After weeks of anticipating, speculating and forecasting, it's finally time to see what this version of Rutgers can accomplish.

Ohio's a formidable season-opening opponent for the Scarlet Knights . The Bobcats last season went 11-3 and won the Mid-American Conference championship.

They return a number of impact players from that team, including dual-threat quarterback Parker Navarro, who threw for more than 2,000 yards last season and rushed for more than 1,000.
