SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - A man has been arrested and charged after police say he ran around Howard Park with a steak knife and threatened to stab parkgoers.

According to witnesses, 43-year-old Derrick Myers followed some parkgoers on Tuesday night saying “I’m gonna stab you, I’m gonna kill you.”

Witnesses also reportedly told police that they shouted at other parkgoers, telling them to run away.

Police say officers were able to disarm and detain Myers, who was later arrested and taken to the St. Joseph County Jail.

Prosecutors have since charged him with intimidation.

According to online jail records, Myers is scheduled to appear in court for the matter on Tuesday, Sept. 16

Under Indiana law, all people are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
