Maricopa Unified School District’s governing board unanimously approved a $674,536 contract to secure front lobbies at three elementary schools, marking the final phase of a multi-year campus safety initiative.

The contract was awarded to CORE Construction at last night’s board meeting. Renovations will begin over fall break at Santa Rosa, Pima Butte and Butterfield Elementary Schools.

Chief Financial Officer Jacob Harmon presented the proposal, which continues a safety effort launched three years ago , when the district installed secure lobbies at Maricopa Elementary and Maricopa Wells Middle Schools.

Saddleback and Santa Cruz Elementary Schools saw the same entrances installed last year.
