MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Spring Hill College officials broke ground on a new building today, revealing the name of the building at the ceremony.

Leaders said the new building will be named the "Annette N. Shelby Health and Science Innovation Center," named for former U.S. Senator Richard Shelby's late wife. The former senator was on hand for the unveiling.

The center is mainly for Nursing and Health Science majors, but Spring Hill College President Mary Van Brunt said all students will benefit.

"This is just hopefully the first of many new buildings and new innovation for the students but they're excited about this because every new student will be able to utilize this new building, not just our nursing and health sciences [students]," Brunt said.
