This week served as a handy reminder to Asim Richards for how fast things can change in the NFL.

When the week started, he was competing for a roster spot with the Dallas Cowboys. Then, Tuesday, the New Orleans Saints traded for him to shore up their offensive line depth, swapping future late-round draft picks with the Cowboys.

It's safe to say the move was unexpected: Richards had just purchased a house in the Dallas area.

"It's fine; I can go back in the offseason," Richards said. "I'm really, really excited for this opportunity to get on the field."

Richards said he got the call early Tuesday morning that the Saints had acquired him. New Orleans gave him two flight options, one leaving in the late afternoon and one leaving in the early evening. He took the 6 p.m. option for New Orle
