Carson City planning commissioners Wednesday got behind a townhome project located within the Silver Oak Planned Unit Development in the north part of the city.
Commissioners unanimously approved a special use permit for 92 townhomes on the southeast corner of Silver Oak Drive and GS Richards Boulevard and sent a recommendation of approval to the Board of Supervisors for a tentative subdivision map for the project.
The 6.2-acre parcel is zoned retail commercial, which requires the SUP for residential use. Per one of 27 conditions of approval, the townhome project supersedes a previously approved 178-unit apartment complex at the site. The townhomes are considered attached single-family dwellings.
