The C.M. Russell High football team opens up the 2025 season at home on Friday, taking on defending state champion Helena Capital at Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m.

The Rustlers were a playoff team last fall in head coach A.J. Wilson’s first season as the No. 5 seed out of the Eastern AA, but fell in the first round to Helena High. The season-opener will also be Wilson’s first contest against his alma mater, as he helped lead the Bruins to the 2012 Class AA state championship.
