BOROUGHWIDE — District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced Tuesday that Broadway producer Suzanne Gilad, 54, of Prospect Heights, was sentenced for fraudulently obtaining more than $69,000 in state COVID-19 relief funds by filing falsified records.
Gilad pleaded guilty to second-degree falsifying business records and was sentenced to a conditional discharge and 210 hours of community service by Judge Janet McDonnell. She has since repaid the stolen funds.
Prosecutors said that between December 2021 and January 2022, Gilad submitted multiple fraudulent applications to the Empire State Development grant program, using falsified federal tax returns for three companies she controlled: In Fine Company LLC, Custom Broadway LLC, and All the Josh Cohens LLC.
