Scottsdale-based Delta Dental of Arizona announced it donated around 1,000 mouthguards to local schools and non-profits for youth athletic programs.

According to press release, the donations were valued at more than $20,000 in total and were made to various schools and organizations including St. Vincent de Paul, Valleywise Health, Neighborhood Outreach Access to Health (NOAH), and AzDA Cares. The donations ensure that local youth participating in their athletic programs can access quality safety equipment.

Athletes are 60 times more likely suffer harm to their teeth if they are not wearing a mouth guard, according to the American Dental Association. The press release says that Delta Dental’s Athletic Mouth Guard has twice the impact impact absorption of traditional mouth guards.
