LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - As Husker fans hit the road to head to KC for Thursday’s season opener - heavy traffic congestion is being reported by both drivers and law enforcement near Nebraska City.

The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office put out a statement on Facebook saying, “If you are traveling to the Husker game in Kansas City, please be prepared for slow or stopped traffic. Road construction near Nebraska City has eastbound traffic reduced to one lane causing traffic to be backed up to the Nebraska City scales.

As of 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon, NDOT’s 511 noted the Hwy 2 eastbound closure with backed up traffic. 10/11’s reporters who are en route to Kansas City are reporting that traffic opens back up a bit along I-29 in Missouri.
