EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Edinburg Police Department has launched the Safety Sticker Program. It is designed to help police or first responders in their interactions with people who may have medical conditions or disabilities.
The stickers are color-coded and easy to display on a vehicle’s driver-side window or a home’s front entry. The program is entirely voluntary and free to the public.
"It's just safety stickers for first responders and medical staff. Say we respond to a call and there's a sticker on the door or the window notifying that someone has Alzheimer's, or someone with a special need lives there. It gives us a little bit more awareness of what's going on before we even approach the house," said Officer Jose Lara.
