Paramount has reversed its plans to renew a popular new show.
Variety reported this month that Dexter: Original Sin will not be renewed for a second season despite an announcement in April that one was coming.
The series, which debuted in December 2024, is a prequel to the original Dexter series, which ran from 2006 to 2013 and starred Michael C. Hall as vigilante serial killer Dexter Morgan.
Original Sin saw Dexter reflecting on his traumatic youth, starting in 1991, fifteen years before the first season of the original show.
Upon its release Dexter: Original Sin became Showtime’s most streamed premiere with over 2.1 million viewers. Critics also mostly liked it with Rotten Tomatoes reporting a 70% approval rating.
Despite the cancellation, it isn’t all bad news for fans of t
