A shelter-in-place has been issued in an area of West St. Paul due to an ongoing standoff between police and a barricaded suspect.

The incident is happening on the 1200 block of Ottawa Avenue, with local residents told to stay inside until the standoff is over.

West St. Paul PD said it is "assisting the St. Paul Police Department with a suspect barricaded in a residence."

A lockdown has also been implemented at St. Joseph's Catholic School, a few blocks away, as a precaution, however, this led to online rumors in the wake of Wednesday's mass school shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church and School in Minneapolis.
