SPOKANE, Wash. — The 21-year-old whose detainment sparked Spokane's downtown ICE protest in June has chosen to self-deport, said Ben Stuckart on Facebook.

Former Spokane City Council President Stuckart called on the community to gather in protest after two Venezuelan men living in Spokane were detained on June 11. Stuckart was the legal guardian of the 21-year-old, who came to the U.S. seeking asylum, and accompanied him to a check-in at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office when the man and his friend were detained.

The men were taken to the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, and on Thursday, Stuckart said that 21-year-old Cesar was notified that he would be forcefully deported and chose to self-deport. Stuckart wrote on August 22 that a judge ordered Cesar's remova
