QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A former gastroenterologist was sentenced to 24 years in prison after pleading guilty to raping and sexually assaulting acquaintances and female hospital patients, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced Thursday.
Zhi Alan Cheng, 35, of Astoria, was also sentenced to 10 years of post-release supervision and is required to register as a sex offender.
According to DA Katz, Cheng, who was employed at NewYork-Presbyterian in Queens, was arrested on December 27, 2022, for raping a female acquaintance at his apartment. The victim discovered videos depicting her and other women being assaulted by the doctor.
