BALTIMORE — Instant reactions from the Red Sox ' 3-2 win over Baltimore at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Thursday:
1) The Red Sox improved to 75-60 and swept this four-game series against the Orioles. Boston went 7-1 on the eight-game road trip, which began in New York with three wins in four days against the Yankees.
2) With closer Aroldis Chapman unavailable, Steven Matz received a chance to close out a 3-2 game in the ninth. He allowed a leadoff double to Dylan Carson but Trevor Story made a heads-up play two pitches later when Alex Jackson grounded to shortstop. Story threw out Carlson trying to reach third base. Matz then got a lineout and flyout to win it.
3) Romy Gonzalez, known for his success against left-handed pitchers , hit the go-ahead RBI single in the eighth again
