SPRINGFIELD — A Western Massachusetts woman who gained notoriety for attacking sheriff’s deputies with a cloud of honey bees and then skipped her own trial is fighting extradition from a Tennessee jail.
Rebecca “Rorie” Susan Woods is refusing to waive extradition proceedings to be returned to Massachusetts to face a judge after going on the lam on the day of her trial in Springfield District Court, a spokesperson for Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni said.
Prosecutors and a judge gave Woods hours to appear to represent herself on Aug. 5. When she failed to show up, the judge issued an arrest warrant.
