TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a food safety alert after nearly 100 people are sick in a Salmonella outbreak, including around 1 to 2 cases in Arizona.
The CDC said 95 people across 14 states have fallen ill in a Salmonella outbreak linked to recalled eggs. There's been 73 cases reported in California alone. Eighteen people have been hospitalized, but no deaths have been reported.
Country Eggs, LLC recalled its Large Brown Cage Free "Sunshine Yolks" eggs on Aug. 27. The CDC advises against eating, selling or serving these eggs.
Consumers are urged to dispose or return recalled eggs and sanitize any surfaces they may have touched. Symptoms of severe Salmonella infection include high fever, prolonged diarrhea and dehydration.
