LANSING, MI — Blink, and you might have missed it.

Young Democrats of Michigan for part of the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 27, joined the chorus of advocates calling for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to call for a special election in Michigan’s vacant 35th District state Senate seat.

But 143 minutes after the address was sent via email to outlets across the state, the group chairman who delivered the message said the initial outreach was a mistake.

“Hello, this statement was not meant to go out at this time and we have retracted it,” Young Democrats of Michigan chairman Austin Marsman wrote in the follow-up email. “Thank you and apologies for the confusion.”
