RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Nicholas Selig, wanted in connection with the shooting death of his father Vernon Selig, is now in custody.

According to a social media post by the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, they got a tip around 11 a.m. Thursday, that a man on the 1200 block of Jackson Boulevard in Rapid City matched Selig’s description.

Law enforcement officers located the person, confirming him to be the 30-year-old Selig. He is now with investigators.

Tuesday afternoon, Vernon Selig’s body was found in the area of Victoria Lake Road and First Thunder Road, just outside of Rapid City. The 57-year-old died from a gunshot wound.

Police were looking for his son, but a search turned up empty until Thursday morning.
