BEAUMONT, Texas — The Humane Society of Southeast Texas is approaching maximum capacity again despite placing 69 pets in homes this month, with only four empty dog kennels remaining as of this morning, according to Assistant Shelter Director Eddie Johnson.
The shelter achieved 28 adoptions during Saturday's Clear the Shelters event alone, but Johnson warned the facility will be "max if not over capacity by the end of next week."
"I would love to say yes, but unfortunately we're not" in the clear, Johnson said during a Thursday interview on 12News Midday, where he appeared with Jetta, a 3-year-old Shih Tzu mix seeking adoption.
