MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A new solar farm opened in Maryville next to Denso on Thursday. This is the first of three new solar grids that will open in Blount County within the next year.

Sillicon Ranch is the company building these solar farms and they said this will help create a cleaner energy source.

“When all four plants are constructed here in the Tennessee Valley, three in Blount County, that’s going to power 100% of the energy needs with low cost renewable energy to help support Denso’s operations,” said Matt Beasley, Sillicon Ranch CCO

Denso is one of the largest companies in Maryville, employing over 4,000 people. These grids will supply 100% of Denso’s needs, but they will also benefit the Blount County power grids.
