ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Thursday marks the 62nd anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream Speech” — and to celebrate, the Atlanta Dream has announced a major debt relief program.

With help from Cash App, the team’s financial services partner, and ForgiveCo, a debt forgiveness organization, the Dream will eliminate $10 million in debt for Atlanta families. More than 3,500 recipients with debts ranging from $500 to $80,000 were selected based on need.

The Atlanta Dream’s team name was selected through a community vote in 2008, reflecting Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of hope for the future. Now, the team is living up to its name.
