Two Edmonton-area RCMP sergeants have been accused of breach of trust after an investigation by the province’s police watchdog.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) on Thursday announced charges against Daniel Mayowski and Sheldon Robb, sergeants based in the Westlock and Morinville detachments, respectively.

Neither ASIRT nor RCMP provided specifics about the allegations, beyond ASIRT saying it was “directed to investigate the actions” of the officers on Feb. 16, 2024.

ASIRT said the investigation turned up evidence that gave them “reasonable grounds” to believe the officers broke the law. The agency filed charges Wednesday after a review by the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service.

The RCMP declined to comment.
