ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Depending on your social media platform of choice, you’ve most likely seen plenty of posts from parents marveling, or perhaps in disbelief, that their kids are about to embark on a new school year.

For some parents, this year carries a particular milestone: babies born during the COVID-19 pandemic are starting kindergarten.

That includes one of News 8’s own. Reporter Isabel Garcia says her son was born in June 2020, during a national lockdown — a moment that felt vastly different from today.

“It’s always so hard to believe how fast time moves when you become a parent,” Garcia said.
