ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Illinois is home to approximately 550,000 undocumented immigrants, making it the sixth state with the most undocumented immigrants in the United States as of 2023.

The Pew Research Center's estimates place Illinois behind California, Texas, Florida, New York, and New Jersey in terms of undocumented immigrant populations. These six states collectively account for nearly eight million of the 14 million undocumented immigrants in the country.
