MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A state policing board recommended to decertify two former Memphis police officers, who are both federally convicted.
That means they will no longer be able to work in law enforcement in the state of Tennessee.
MPD requested the Peace Officer Standards Training Commission make the move to decertify them.
Tadarrius Bean was federally convicted in the beating death of Tyre Nichols but acquitted of state charges. We found out he's submitted paperwork surrendering his license.
In May 2023, Bean asked the policing board to postpone any decertification decision until the conclusion of the criminal case. His attorney showed up to that meeting, but neither the attorney nor Bean were present Thursday.
Former MPD officer Arica Hutchison also didn't show up to the meeting. POST
