WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - As a Wichita bus driver, Josiah Williams knew he and his coworkers needed to be prepared for overdoses, because in some cases, it could mean the difference between life and death.

Williams said that while driving his routes around the city, he had witnessed people overdosing and in need of help.

“It’s absolutely our responsibility as city workers to be able to help those that are in need, whether they’re routers or they’re just people on the street,” Williams said.

To be ready, Williams went to Safe Streets Wichita, which recently trained 120 Wichita transit employees on how to use naloxone, a medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.
