WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Haysville City Council is facing a $250 fine for violating the Kansas Open Records Act (KORA).

The Kansas Attorney General’s Office determined that the city failed to provide copies of photographs requested by a citizen and did not offer any explanation for not producing those records.

Several weeks later, when the photos were presented during a jury trial, the citizen realized that he had not received all of the requested records.

The Attorney General’s office stated that the violation was not intentional. However, the city must now undergo additional training and ensure compliance with open records laws.
