COAHOMA COUNTY, Miss. - A teenager was killed in a shootout that stemmed from a drag race, the Coahoma County Sheriff's Office said.
On Saturday, the sheriff's office said, deputies were called to Bruister Road for a shooting victim. Once the deputies arrived, CCSO said, bystanders told them the person was in a field near Prairie Place Road and Gibbons Road; they found a red car disabled in the field.
The sheriff's office said 19-year-old Keyshawn Hunt of Como, Mississippi was the driver; Hunt was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.
CCSO said deputies at the scene were told that Hunt was at a drag racing event that began in Tallahatchie County where a fight of some kind broke out that resulted in gunfire. The sheriff's office said Hunt tried to drive off from the area,
