An Okotoks woman has finally returned home after spending weeks in a Tokyo hospital following an emergency surgery.

Dione Amundson was on vacation with her 19-year-old son, Peyton, when she began to experience severe pain and was rushed to the hospital. Amundson received emergency surgery after being diagnosed with a perforated intestine, and spent the weeks following recovering in the hospital before she was permitted to return home.

“We were there for three days, and on the fourth day, we were all ready to go for breakfast, and I felt a pop … and then it just continued to get worse,” Amundson said.
