RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -JWood Raw Elementary School in Reno is only three years old.

It has modern security systems like an intercom system to let the visitor in the front door. Here the entryway is closed off from the classrooms, library and lunchroom, as well as the playground.

There are other safety measures for those working in the front office.

“Put your child’s face in front of it. And we are done. Right?” says principal of JWood Raw Elementary Jonna AuCoin about the security measures. “It is their heart we are protecting. The reason we are doing it is to keep their child safe. And have policies and procedures in place so we can run our business of education.”
