ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

KOAT showed viewers water flowing through the Rio Grande after weeks of it drying out locally.

However, some noticed a foam-looking substance floating along the top of the river in areas. Officials with the Rio Grande Conservancy District shared the foam is dissolved organic carbon, mostly made up of soil and decaying plants.

The conservancy also said the foam is natural and normal, especially after rainfall.
