GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) — Grand Forks has a new fire chief and he comes from within the department.

Charles Marcott is being promoted from deputy fire chief to chief, pending city council approval on Tuesday.

Mayor Brandon Bochenski says Marcott rose to the top of the nationwide search.

He started as a firefighter 26 years ago.

Marcott replaces Gary Lorenz who returned to Fargo to be the city’s fire chief.
