One of Utah’s oldest and most storied high school football rivalries will be on full display Friday night at Walt Brooks Stadium.
Noted Utah high school football historian George Felt names the Dixie-Cedar rivalry as the second-oldest in state history.
Dixie holds a 62-34 all-time record against Cedar. The two schools met on the gridiron for the first time on Sept. 25, 1925 in St. George.
Mike Bair, athletics director at Dixie, told St. George News that the Flyers won the game, 33-0.
The teams met yearly beginning in 1949. So Friday night’s 7 p.m. contest at Dixie marks the 76th renewal of the yearly rivalry and the 97th time overall that the teams have met.
