SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Two schools in the Ozarks had incidents with students bringing a loaded firearm to school.

The Springfield Police encourage firearm owners to discuss gun safety with their sons, daughters, and others at home.

SPD’s Public Affairs Officer, Cris Swaters, said this decreases the chances of accidents involving firearms happening at home.

“Owning a firearm is a big responsibility for legal firearm owners. That responsibility comes down to how you store that firearm properly and ensuring that only those who are trained to use it have access to it,” Swaters said.
