LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A street in downtown Laredo known for its nightlife will soon see major improvements.
Iturbide Street will undergo a $1.5 million improvement project spanning five blocks from Santa Ursula to Salinas Avenue.
The project will include sidewalk repairs and tree restoration. Additional lighting, including new light poles and string lights, will also be added to the street.
“We analyzed the trees and the surrounding sidewalks, and we will be opening those tree beds so the roots can expand without breaking the sidewalks,” said Andrea De Anda, an engineer on the project. “We will also be fixing the sidewalks that are currently lifted or broken.”
No start date for the project has been announced.
