LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Several topics were discussed at the Laredo City Council meeting on September 2 , including safety concerns related to large sewage pipes and the timeline for a lengthy bridge expansion project.
Discussions about sewage pipes are related to an incident on August 21 , in which a 41-year-old undocumented immigrant was found stuck roughly 200 feet inside a pipe near Los Dos Laredos Park.
During the meeting, the Laredo Police Department confirmed that the sewage drainage pipes are secured with locks. However, Mayor Dr. Victor Trevino stated that people have been cutting the locks to gain access. It was also mentioned that Customs and Border Protection assists in monitoring these security measures.
Ultimately, the council chose to revisit the topic later. Additional
