We may have missed out on the rain, but we didn't miss out on a rare August day. Temperatures remained unusually cool where clouds persisted, and that included the Springfield area. An afternoon high of 70° was recorded. We haven't experienced an August high that low since 2015. The rare air was even cool enough in Harrison and Joplin to set record low highs.
With clearing skies, we'll find another cool late August night. Temperatures will slip into the 50s with dense fog possible in areas that saw rain earlier in the day.
Friday will feature a mix of sun and clouds with afternoon highs heading higher. Low to mid-80s will be common, but humidity levels will have more of a September feel.
