PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- One area drama organization is asking for help from the public for help fundraising for utility repairs.
Peoria Players Theatre has been running since 1919, when it operated in the Peoria Women's Club. They've since changed locations and have been in the same building, an auditorium on the hill on the corner of West Lake Avenue and North University Street, since 1957.
Currently, their building is feeling its age, and has had to have a new boiler installed, along with a temporary fix of a compressor in an air conditioning unit that went out in May ahead of their run of Beetlejuice Jr. The compressor alone ran them a price tag of $9,000.
Altogether, Players is asking for a sum of $130,000, and for the public's assistance. The maintenance is being done by the Peoria
