PEORIA, Ill (WMBD) -- Whether you are hopping in the pool for fun just to take a dip or competing on a swim team, swimming is an important part of the community.
On Thursday night, Aug. 28, the board members of both the Peoria Public Schools and the Peoria Park District held a Joint special meeting to discuss the future of the Central Park Pool.
During the meeting, three options for the pool were presented. One option was to have both parties agree to sell to a private third party, with both parties agreeing to the terms and conditions of the sale and the protection of the land as a public asset.
A second option was for Peoria Public Schools to inherit the pool and surrounding land, with the option of allowing the park district to rent out the facility to train lifeguards and offer swim
