The Salvation Army in Jefferson City launched a new initiative with Ameren Missouri to support low-income families struggling to pay energy expenses.

According to a news release, the Ameren Energy Relief Program will provide $150 in energy bill relief for up to 133 eligible households. Families can receive assistance through the program regardless of whether they have received assistance from The Salvation Army in the past.

Requirements for eligibility include families who have an outstanding energy bill of at least $150 and face energy bill burdens, according to the news release.

People interested in the program must visit The Salvation Army Jefferson City office during one of these time windows:

Tuesday: 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Thursday: 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.
