GALLATIN COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker visited southern Illinois, making a stop in Gallatin County for a significant revitalization project. The community celebrated the groundbreaking of a new $27 million fertilizer distribution center in Old Shawneetown.

The Scates Group Intermodal (SGI) River terminal plans to build this facility along the Ohio River bank. The project will include the construction of a new building and improvements to road repair infrastructure.

SGI President Patrick Scates says the Old Shawneetown location will ultimately be more cost-effective for local farmers in the long run
