President Donald Trump suggested on Thursday that Republicans should hold a national convention next year—just one day after it was reported that Democrats are mulling over the same idea.
Trump said in a Truth Social post that he is weighing whether to recommend holding a Republican National Convention next year ahead of the midterm elections. He teased that this kind of event has “never been done" before despite Axios reporting on Wednesday that Democrats are thinking of hosting a “mini-convention” before the 2026 elections.
