ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - As new laws go into effect Thursday in Missouri, workers are losing paid sick leave.

About 700,000 Missourians started earning paid sick leave under Proposition A less than four months ago. The paid sick leave portion of Proposition A was repealed by a law signed by Gov. Mike Kehoe.

Proposition A, passed with 56% of the vote, promised workers one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked. It also raised the minimum wage of $13.75 cents per hour. In 2026, it was set to raise to $15 an hour, and then raise each year based on the Consumer Price Index.

Under the new law, minimum wage will still rise to $15 an hour but no longer be raised based on the Consumer Price Index.
