Pushback in St. Charles with a plan to change how the city attracts tourists

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Conflicting thoughts and opinions surround a plan to merge three departments in St. Charles on Thursday.

Mayor Dan Borgmeyer suggests merging the convention and visitors bureau, special events and communication departments into one.

Mayor Borgmeyer says this will streamline operations and support the city’s growing event schedule.

Some business owners, however, believe that, instead of helping, it would backfire and result in fewer tourists.
